Thank you to the City of Southwest Ranches!

By Uncategorized

We would like to thank the City of Southwest Ranches for holding a Wacky Socks Day fundraiser on World Down Syndrome Day, March 21st. The city employees made a donation to wear their wacky socks to work to show support for the Down syndrome community. We were presented with a check at the May Council meeting, and then given another $300 donation on the spot! We thank you for supporting our DS community and look forward to our partnership with the City of Southwest Ranches in the future!

End of 2023 Wrap Up!

By BGCDSO Families
What a year 2023 has been! Every year since Covid, we have gotten stronger as a community. Our membership has increased, our events have more members engaged, our fundraising efforts have increased, and we see the growth of each of our Down syndrome superstars!
This year has brought some new changes as well. Our office location moved from Coral Springs to Plantation in April. We are now more central for our members and have a larger office space to hold meetings and events. Our SU4DS Walk location changed within Markham Park, we put our heads together and planned every new detail to ensure its success, and it paid off! This has been one of our highest fundraising years!
We formed new partnerships with our Walk sponsors, who have been instrumental in adding ways to help BGCDSO grow. We’ve added a monthly Read-Along event, which allows our DS members to have a night together, and our Coffee and Conversation group, so our parents can have a couple of hours of adult conversation. Sharing moments and experiences give us hope that things are okay even when they are hard, and that we as a community, are not alone in this journey.
We are so appreciative of all our Members, Volunteers, our Group Coordinators, Community Members, Sponsors, and our Board and Staff for all the hard work and due diligence that is put into all you do to help support our organization! We truly could not be successful without you! We look forward to a Happy & Healthy 2024!

By Uncategorized
Thank you to all our Sponsors, Members, Volunteers, and Staff for a fun and exciting Step Up 4 Down Syndrome 2023 Walk!! It was a hot one, but the atmosphere was full of laughter and smiles!
We thank all of our participants: members, teams, individuals and sponsors/vendors for taking the time to make the day so successful! We raised 77% of our fundraising goal! Our site will remain open for donations until 12/31/23, please help us reach our goal which helps our non-profit organization, continue to fund our Mission. https://www.ds-stride.org/su4ds
We cannot thank our official Volunteers enough for spending the day with us, helping wherever they were needed, AND to our impromptu volunteers who saw a need and filled it without being asked! Our set up went smoothly and clean up was made possible by a handful of dedicated helpers that left the park area pristine!
We hope that everyone enjoyed the day: the walk, the vendors, the entertainment and the company of each other! We thought we utilized this new area well and had many compliments on the set-up. We would like to get your opinion on how you thought it went. Join us for a Post Walk meeting on Monday, October 16th from 6:30-8:30 at our BGCDSO office located at 7301 NW 4th Street, Suite #103, Plantation, FL 33317, to discuss your likes and things that could use improvement for next year. Once again, thank you for a Wonderful Day celebrating our families and friends with Down syndrome!
