World Down Syndrome Day 2026!

By Uncategorized

What a way to kick-off our World Down Syndrome Day Celebration, with a fashion show! Our models were amazing with one or no rehearsal. They were shining bright on the runway as we cheered them on. Thank you, Broward Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization’s families and friends, for joining us on this special day. Thank you, parents, for having your super stars participate in the fashion show. Thank you, Tia Frost from #NoLimitsFoundationInc who organized the show for our event. We appreciate your support!

Special thanks to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Special Populations of Broward County, Art inclusion with Erika, and James Martinez from #forcephotographs, for being a part of our special day.

Last but not least, our gratitude to the volunteers and staff. The event would not have been successful without your support and involvement.

We also had a nice visit from Tony DiGiulian – #PelagicGear, who is our long-time supporter. It was such a wonderful opportunity to get together for our Extraordinary loved ones with Down syndrome. Happy World Down Syndrome Day!

2025 SU4DS Walk Thank You!

By Uncategorized

Where do we even begin?? Thank you to everyone who made our Step Up 4 Down Syndrome 30th Anniversary Walk, so INCREDIBLE!! The weather was perfect, not too hot, a little breezy. The DJ was amazing; he kept the crowd engaged and dancing all day! The volunteers were attentive and so happy to be a part of the day! We were blessed with Sunrise CERT Volunteers that conducted chaos-free parking with a smile, even though they were there at 6am and got directions in the dark! Our vendors set up their tables and had such great resources and treats for our guests! We were so happy to have the Sunrise Police Department share their Bear Cat and SWAT trucks, a marked vehicle and therapy dogs who were so sweet, while the Sunrise Fire Department, Engine 83, came to display their truck and spritz the finished walkers with cool water! BSO also shared with us their Pegasus, safety resources and therapy dogs.

In addition, we were entertained by Elizabeth Rivera, Zumba with Mariam Linares, and the South Florida Cloggers. We loved all the inflatable games donated by RM Family Fun Party, and we loved the face painting done by Active Art! We also had so many photo opportunities with ELMO, the 501st Legion: Everglades Star Wars Characters, and our own Florida Panthers Mascot, Stanley Panther! We are thankful for the Hooters Girls who came out and brought us cool, refreshing water and hosted a Friend Raiser afterwards for our participants! Our merchandise and raffle tables were full of amazing items and baskets and volunteers! We appreciate ALL the donations by members, friends, vendors and sponsors-the selection was awesome!

Finally, we cannot thank our Sponsors, Members and Friends for ALL the donations and registrations that allowed us to throw such an amazing event in support of our Down syndrome community! Our enthusiastic Volunteers helped everything run so smoothly throughout the day! Many thanks to our dedicated Walk planners, Advisory Board and devoted Staff that spent months planning, organizing, coordinating, confirming and managing the 30th Anniversary extravaganza! We are so grateful to everyone that participated in this wonderful day in celebration of this beautiful community. Your donations will help us continue our Mission to provide resources, education, advocacy, and social events for our individuals with Down syndrome.

Donations can still be made on our Walk website until December 31st, 2025.

What an absolutely AMAZING day we had at our Step Up 4 Down Syndrome 2024 Walk!

By Uncategorized

Even though we weren’t able to set up the day before due to all the rain, we had all hands-on deck at 5:30 am! Everything was done and ready for our incredible Walk celebrating our individuals with Down syndrome and their extremely dedicated families! We had so many new vendors this year, it was a treat to visit with them and collect goodies and resources!

Our Volunteers showed up this year ready to work and serve in any capacity needed. Our participants were very happy with the entertainment, music and activities. All of it was made possible with the support of our wonderful Sponsors, incredible Team fundraising and your Donations. Every year we tweak things per your suggestions, and every year the Walk gets better and better!

We are thankful the weather held out, we had a lovely breeze and a welcome day of shade. We thank you all for your raffle donations, and your time and energy, all of it benefits our Down syndrome community and allows us to continue our Mission.

We are so thankful for such a generous community and for your continued support! We cannot be successful without you!

Donations will be accepted on our Walk site until December 31, 2024. Please help us reach our goal if possible. All donations big or small, help, and many hands make light work! Thank you for sharing this day with us, and for donating!
